Role of an altar minister
Altar ministers are an extension of the lead minister. They are expected to affect the spiritual atmosphere through prayer, intercession, and discernment. They are also expected to affect the natural atmosphere at the altar through awareness of people’s need for comfort, assisting those seeking ministry to the altar, keeping order at the altar, and creating a safe atmosphere for those receiving ministry.
When do altar ministers serve?
Altar ministers serve during Sunday morning experiences, regionwide prayer (once each month), and any other special events where altar ministry takes place. Altar ministers serve each time altar ministry takes place.
What responsibilities do altar ministers have?
* Arrive 50 minutes prior to the experience to participate in morning prayer meetings on Sundays they serve at the altar.
* Safely and appropriately catch anyone who may fall down during ministry at the altar.
* Pray and partner with the lead minister as they minister at the altar.
